2009 Data Book

JUST RELEASED!

The 2009 edition of The State of Children in Memphis and Shelby County: Data Book IV is ready to meet the public.

More than ever, our community must become widely aware of the severe short and long-term effects of exposing our children to the deteriorating statistics affecting us.

As a community, if we come to terms with the reality that many of our problems stem directly from the earliest experiences of our children, then perhaps we will be ready to make new decisions that can re-direct our city’s future.

High quality early child development programs, delivered strategically, have been shown to have a lifetime impact on not just individuals, but entire communities. Investments in early child development have proven to return up to 17 dollars in savings for every dollar invested.

Read 2009’s The State of Children in Memphis and Shelby County: Data Book IV for TUCI’s detailed analysis our community’s shared challenges and possible solutions.
